Whether commissioned to provide an elaborately grandiose chandelier for a Chamonix chalet, uniquely minimalist metal lighting systems for modern restaurants and fashion boutiques, a subtly illuminated staircase inside a private home, a multicoloured fountain light sculpture outside a traditional Italian villa, an enormous shell chandelier cascading down the enormous spiral stairwell of a Caribbean hotel, or a relaxing ambience in a nursing home, light design studio Venice M execute all of their customised, hand-crafted projects with passion, sensitivity, care and aplomb.
Headed up by Melissa Lunardi – who formerly worked for Murano glass and lighting before founding Swank and the Lunardi Group – and Massimo Tonetto – who holds an architecture degree from Venice – Venice M was founded by the pair in 2013 following an initial collaboration in 2009, when they realised the potential of and global appetite for customised lighting engineering projects.
From hanging bell shades, hooped table lamps and circular wall lights, to ornate crown chandeliers, Kitami suspension pieces and Mondrian glass ceiling structures, Venice M seem intrinsically able to turn their hand to an enormous range of clean, modernist lighting products. And in the build of these structures they can predominantly be found using brass and stainless steel tubes to redefine the traditional aesthetic of Italian lighting fixtures in an exciting yet ultimately soothing and utterly pleasurable way.
